Help on Posting SearchPosting your search here at Find Lost Ones - People Finders is both Free and Easy. Simply Register if you have not already (by clicking [New Registration] at the bottom of any page). Our system automatically mails your password usually within a few seconds (no need to disconnect while you wait). Once you have the password, you might want to copy it from your e-mail and go to [Edit] to replace our rather obtuse collection of letters and numbers with something you might more easily remember. Posting a Search is accomplished by clicking on [Post New Search] at the bottom of any screen. Fill in the form that pops up with the name of the person(s) your searching for. Next, select the category the search should be in (if you don't see an appropriate category on the drop down list, please e-mail us at the Email Link below and ask for that category to be added. Be a little patient, please--we get LOTS of e-mail. *** Please - only list your search in two or three categories. Do not list your search in every category. There is a category for unknown last location or birth place, etc. if you dont know, which everyone seems to read first after their own state/country so you needn't worry that your search won't be viewed as it is the most popular category. Once you have it accessible, then link it to your search posting by entering the URL (its web address, for example http://yourname.com/picture.jpg) in the "IMAGE URL" box. *** Note - We are seeing a few searches posted that are trying to include a photo of their loved one but they are only putting a website URL and not a photo URL and unfortunately that won't work . If any has trouble with this please write us and we will certainly try help you, Note: your photo needs to be on a website. Enter a description. You can simply type your description into the "Description:" box but we also support HTML. So feel free to use your favorite HTML editor (like FrontPage), then cut and paste your description of person(s) your searching for into the Description box. Be sure to include as much information as possible about the person(s) You're searching for. This could include:
After the description is complete, enter your username in the "Your handle/alias:" box and your password in the box below. Once the posting form is filled in to your satisfaction, hit the Preview button. The system shows how your listing will look. If that pleases you, click on the Post button and your search is live. Keep in mind that some people do not wish to be found and so it is always advisable to use a third party to make the initial contact with that person. If they still don't want to be contacted, it is best to respect their wishes and have the third party leave contact information about you if they'll except it and hopefully they will contact you sometime in the future.
